Because randomness is the way to go! ;)

18th December, 2012:

“So his school was, in essence, her dream school!” Samantha concluded making quotations around the words “dream school”, and then she fake whispered to their friend, Helena “Oh yes- she is that far gone.”
Helena laughed and looked at Shirley.

“Oh c’mon I never said that!” Shirley pouted.
“I said, in essence. And just admit it, your crush on him is not as casual as you would like us to believe.” Samantha said.
“It is. Siriusly. And I only said that I liked his school. It is really beautiful, you’ll think the same if you saw it.”
“Yeah right!” Helena said.
“You should’ve gone to his school when you lived there. Anyway you are in his college now. You kind of have a chance.”

9th March, 2014:

“Wait! So now you’re saying Howard is no longer in your class??” Samantha looked a little disappointed as she asked this.

“Nope. But really, what do you think would’ve happened? Nothing did for the last two years. He didn’t even notice I was there. And it’s not that big a deal anyway. It was just a crush on a guy who reminded me about the happy times when I lived in the city that he lives in now. It is the nostalgia that is romanticizing it more than anything else.” Shirley said, and she probably meant it. Samantha was more into their stupid one sided love story than Shirley probably was. (Although you never know.)

23rd August, 2014:

SamTheNightOwl: Hey! You won’t believe this!!!!

You’re not online but I’m gonna say it anyway-
Howard was in your school back when you didn’t even live here!!!

SmartShirley: What? Howard was in St. Mark’s right?
What are you saying?

SamTheNightOwl: *exasperated sound*
Howard studied in Albert Einstein High until 5th grade and you moved here in your 6th grade!
Do you see what I see?

SmartShirley: Oh. My. God.

Howard was in my school??? Really??

SamTheNightOwl: I know right? What are the odds of that happening?

12th June 2021:

“And as Shirley was walking down the aisle, I looked at Howard and saw the idiot looking ecstatic as he willingly entered into the last legal form of slavery. I realized how it was in equal parts funny and equal parts surprising that for once in their lives, they were both in the right place at the right time.
It took the magic of serendipity for them to be together finally.
And so I’d like us all to raise our glasses and celebrate the beginning of the most beautiful and magical happily ever after.” Samantha ended her maid of honor speech as Shirley and Howard gazed lovingly into each others eyes and sent a silent thank you to the heavens for making Shirley the kind of person who’d walk the neighbour’s dog because she was asked to do it, and obviously Spiky, Howard’s dog for being the ultimate matchmaker- and also the world’s best dog!
