Because randomness is the way to go! ;)

Often you’re sitting at home and you start to wonder about how you’ll be moving out one of these days.
Sure, there’s at least half a decade left before that happens, but that doesn’t stop you from wondering anyway.

Mostly you are just excited to go out there and get a life: Taste the newfound freedom, create your own lifestyle, be responsible, make the world your oyster, discover new people and also new things about yourself..

But occasionally you also take the other train of thought.
You wonder what you will miss about here, about home.

Will it be your friends, your family?

What if you realize it’s neither?
What if, after racking your brain really hard about things you will miss, you think “Yeah… I think I’m gonna miss the perfect placement of the showerhead in my bathroom” and “I’m also gonna miss having the small place below my study desk where I would sit for hours reading my diaries instead of studying”?
What if the things you’d miss about home are just that- things?

What does that say about you?

Wow. This really gets me thinking. I’ll try to come up with a good answer, but for now, I can tell you that I will miss many things about home, family and friends. But I love a new adventure every time. I’ll come up with a long list for your unquenchable thirst for randomness! 🙂 Both a good side and the bad. I might just make a post about it! I dunno… 🙂

I really appreciate you writing a response post.
It is always good to know others opinions about things that I blog about- that is one of my favourite things about blogging: the discussions and debates happening in the comments.

Sometimes I’ve seen that the comments section is much longer and more interesting than the entire post! It shows that the internet is full of cool people with their own experiences.
And what makes this better is that we know our audience. We are more than vaguely familiar of other person to whose post we’re reading or commenting. I think that makes it a little more personal and worthwhile.
But I’m ready for comments from strangers, too 🙂

      • You are right!
        I’ve seen that happen too.
It is especially cool because I made so many friends by simply commenting on their posts and them commenting on mine (like you).
And then, we formed this small little community of our own.
Our own corner in this huge World Wide Web! 🙂

Yeah, and then I also feel there’s this contract, like we have between friends, to talk about what we like and comment whenever possible, you know?

  2. How is it that you always mention things I’m thinking about? I swear you reached into my brain and took this train of thought. I’m almost twenty and I think about this constantly. And being away from home right now is reminding me of that more than ever.

    • Oh wow! It’s just a thing with penpals I suppose.
Another of my penpal blogged about exactly the same thing I was thinking of quite often at that time.

      This is so weird!
Or maybe it is a Nerdfighter Potterhead thing.

I guess you’ll miss these “things” because you know that once you leave them behind you won’t ever see them again and they aren’t that easy to find and it has a special place somewhere in your heart. It’s not the same with friends or family because you know that you can meet them whenever you want…..they’re still there and a phone call or mail away. The same is not the case with these “things”. I think it’s somehow similar to the case of when a person dies. You get more nostalgic about them then and not when you leave them because you know you can’t meet them anymore. This is just my point if view about missing “things” rather than friends or family.

    • First of all, thanks for commenting.
      It was a pleasant surprise.
And yes, what you said is a fresh way of looking at it.
I never thought of it that way. Ever.

So thanks again for the new perspective- I’ll ponder upon it.
And maybe then we’d have a discussion?

  5. Lately this has been on my mind. I used to count the days until I would be gone, convinced that my life wouldn’t start until I was 18. That for now, it’s just a waste of time and space. Safe to say, it was a bad thought trail. I tried to come up for good reasons to stay, but the most prominent was how I loved the way the clouds look. I’ve been to a few other places and the clouds weren’t like the ones I was used to and loved. Isn’t that sad? I looked around and I could only find the clouds as something I would miss. I still struggle with taking advantage of my time now…. But just so you know, your not the only one who feels like this! 🙂

    • I was convinced of the same Taylor, and I’m about to turn 18 and yet I don’t think there’s a significant change in my life.

      The age really doesn’t matter.

It feels good to know that you feel the same about everything. :’)
